Quince Orchard played an absolute gem of a game against then-undefeated Northwest, led by Brooke Beisner's terrific pitching, clean defense behind her and clutch hitting in the waning moments. At the outset, the game was a tense, scoreless affair going into the bottom of the 4th. Northwest had runners in scoring position in 3 of those 4 innings, while QO was unable to capitalize off 3 consecutive hits from Brooke, Sydney Zavadil and Kelly Coffey in the 2nd. In the bottom of the 4th, Sydney Maxwell and Brooke led off with singles, and after the next two struck out, Megan Dougherty produced 2 runs with her base hit. Northwest responded immediately with 2 runs in the top of the 5th, and neither team scored through the bottom of the 6th - each team had just 4 at-bats in each of those tense half-innings. In the top of the 7th, Northwest led off with a single, was sac-bunted over to second and subsequently scored during the next at-bat. Emily Maxwell and Sydney Zavadil each had catches to retire the side, sending QO to the bottom of the 7th, down 3-2. Emily Maxwell started things off with a single and Natalya Sizdahkhani sac-bunted beautifully to move her to 2nd. Then, with 2 outs and down to her final strike on a 1-2 count, Leanne Youstra hit a clutch double to drive in the tying run. Sydney Maxwell then sealed the deal with a walk-off, game-winning double to drive in Leanne. It was a great, great win for the Cougars!
